今集將漫遊即將再翻新的西港城。
西港城源建於1906年，前身是上環街市北座，到1990年時，被評為法定古蹟，並在1991年修葺完成後，改名為西港城。西港城的建築風格是英式愛德華風，以紅磚及花崗岩為為要建築材料，配合拱頂及鐵窗花的使用，整座建築物充滿厚重的歷史感，與附近建築物的風格截然不同，成為非常突出的存在。
西港城曾經在2003年時進行過翻新，在20多年後的今天，它要再次進行翻新工程，這座現存香港最古老的街市建築物，在再次經歷翻新後會變成怎樣，暫時無人知道。趁工程尚未開始時，一於去看看他現在的面貌。

今回ご紹介するのは、再改修を控えた香港最古の市場建築「西港城 (Western Market)」。
1906年に上環街市（シェンワン・マーケット）北棟として誕生し、1990年には法定古跡（文化財指定）に登録。1991年の大規模修復を経て現在の名称となりました。
赤レンガと花崗岩を基調とした英国エドワード様式の外観は、アーチ状の天井や鉄製窓枠と相まって重厚な歴史感を漂わせ、周囲のモダンなビル群の中でもひときわ目立つ存在です。
前回2003年の改修から20余年を経た今、この由緒ある建物は再び生まれ変わろうとしています。改修後の姿は未だ明らかではありませんが、工事開始前の今こそ、その荘厳な姿を記録する絶好の機会。歴史の瞬間に立ち会う旅へ、ご一緒しましょう。
